Baby clapotis

Baby clapotis

I was nervous and I had to rip it out a bunch and start over a bunch but finally my clapotis is underway! If you want to read up and get the pattern yourself, Knitty magazine has it, with a photo of the finished item. Plus, if you Google "clapotis," you will find a zillion links and can spend at least a week reading up on it. (Here is the link to it: http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html. One day I'll figure out how to make links!)

I'm using Noro Silk Garden colorway #8.

When you should be doing other work....

The thing is, I should be working...I have writing projects galore. And what am I doing? Reading knitting blogs. Deciding what yarn to buy for a clapotis, thinking of starting a pair of socks (I bought the yarn long ago and have never made socks). I swore I wouldn't start something new till I finished Brian's scarf, made out of a Berroco Suede, black. I hate that yarn, truth be told. Sticks to my not-baby-smooth fingers. But I finished it--three skeins worth--and I did think I would go mad. I may have, actually. I know--I'll make Brian model the scarf and then post the photo here. It's not his fault--I just didn't know it would take so very long. So here's a warning: Only knit fast, teensy items with that Berroco, else you may go mad.

The Scarf/Capelet/mini-shawl/Whatever!

This shot is not the best but it gives you an idea of what's going on with this piece. It didn't start out being a triangular-shaped mini-shawl/capelet, but that's what it ended up being. It's your basic elongated triangle. I'll post the pattern if anyone is interested. It's very basic. And I used a double strand of Katia Mariner (50% cotton, 50% acrylic) and di.ve Cipria, 100% polyamide. I realize this piece is mostly man-made substance but I do love it. And the Cipria is so soft, like a sweet Shi Tzu puppy.
