Geek!

The Geek wristband is from Stitch 'n Bitch. Our family has a longstanding ritual: If someone calls someone else a geek, "them's fightin' words!" In short, we wrestle. My son's getting a bit big for this but he's still the prime motivator of wrestling in this household. You oughta be on a wrestling team, I say. Then it wouldn't be fun, he says.

Have you ever fallen asleep while knitting?

I'm sure I did--last night. It was after 11:00. I was working on my birch shawl and listening to a book on CD (The Ivy Chronicles) when I sort of dimmed out and snapped to and wondered how much I'd knitted asleep! I didn't drop a stitch. Maybe I just fell asleep for a split second but it was the weirdest thing.

2nd booga bag is fini!

I used Noro colorway 138 and this time, gave it more inches vertically, since in the felting process, it shrinks more vertically than across. I don't know why. Here's the pattern URL: http://www.blacksheepbags.com/booga_bag.html. It calls for three skeins but I used for for more vertical space.

Pre-felt: 15" wide, 17" long
Post-felt: 12" wide, 11" long.

I like the vertical space. I love the bag (though the miles of stockinette stitch get to me after a while. I alternated working on a birch shawl, which is fine, lacework. So it was a nice change, but crazy-making at times.

Flap hat

Here's my first flap hat, from Last Minute Knits, and that's Alex, the singer of The Green Room, a band in which my son plays guitar (and sometimes drums). I used Brown Sheep worsted. I love that yarn...!

Birdie bowl

Instead of tossing out end-strands of yarn or snipped pieces, I started a birdie bowl with the hope that our winged visitors will partake for their nests this spring.
