Ball winder....skein winder ... boy wonder

Received my ball winder and Swift skein winder and I love them. I should say, we love them. My son doesn't want me to wind the yarn; it's his job. Love these gadgets! Sure, we got along without them before but they make knitting even more fun than it already is. And of course our one kitty, Rosie, has to get in on the action.

On the needles....

....is a tank top that I'm making using a black cotton yarn that Andrea (Spindiva on KR) gave me when she destashed a couple months back, when we met one winter evening at Starbucks Fashion Island. I knew her because she was carrying shopping bags full of yarn. She knew me because of my Booga bag.

Also making a Kiri shawl using a garnet/purple kid merino. I love lace knitting.

Also doing an intarsia design from a painting Brian did of the sun (see last post).

And...a Spirit of the Southwest shawl using Zephyr--another lace shawl. But I'm kind of messed up and I don't want to frog it, so when I'm in a concentrating sort of mood, I will study where things went wrong.

I just bought a few new books, too: Folk Bags and Greetings from the Knit Cafe, which have luscious patterns I long to make.

What's on your needles?

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day, to everyone who mothers....

Here's what I walked out this morning to find:

My husband knows I want to do my own intarsia designs so he did this and bought me translucent graph paper:

And here's one of the coupons in the coupon book my son made for me (the kid knows me....):

Here's a wonderful Maya Angelou clip, celebrating mothers: Click here.

Weekend Getaway Satchel Fini!

Here it is, my wonderful bag. I loved making this bag. I didn't think I'd enjoy the embroidery aspect, but I did. I hadn't embroidered for years and years. And then the felting made the whole project come into focus and a work of art was created. Here we are, me and my bag, at Los Angeles International airport, having just arrived home from Philly.
