Food...knitting, knitting....food

This is the most wonderful rice dish--well, one of them anyhoo, compliments of my dentist, Dr. Lisa. Actually, she told me she got the recipe from a party she came to a Christmas party at my place many years ago, where everyone brought a dish and brought the recipe for that dish.

Take two cups of mixed rice (basmatic, wild, brown) or just buy the Trader Joe's package of mixed rice, and cook it in four cups of vegetable broth. Add 1/3 cup olive oil, the juice from two oranges, a handful of golden raisins, a handful of dried cranberries, a handful of chopped walnuts, a lil salt and pepper, mix well and voila! It is So Good. It's like a dessert--you just keep wanting more. Dr. Lisa said to add chopped scallions to the top when you're ready to serve, but I forgot.

Cabled fingerless gloves

My friend Jill berated me for not posting recently. She's right. It's been a while. So here are the fingerless gloves from knitty.com that I like so much. It's my first attempt at cables and I Love Them. Actually, it was Jill who first showed me how you do a cable. Cables are so fun.

I used Rowan Cashmerino. So soft. Yum. The pattern went really fast. If you want to check out cables, this is a good first project.
